Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the cubed bread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes in the baking dish.
- Scatter the mixed berries over the top of the bread mixture.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the French toast bake is golden brown and set in the center.
- Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup and whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can use a combination of milk and heavy cream. If using frozen berries, do not thaw them before adding to the bake.
