Berry Trifle in Patriotic Layers

Ingredients
  

For the Cake Layers
  • 1 pound pound cake cut into 1-inch cubes
For the Cream Filling
  • 1 package cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy cream
For the Berry Layers
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Beat in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the heavy cream and beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. In a trifle bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes.
  4. Spread half of the cream mixture over the cake layer.
  5. Layer half of the strawberries and blueberries over the cream.
  6. Repeat the layers: pound cake, cream, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
  7. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can use store-bought angel food cake or sponge cake for a quicker preparation. For an extra patriotic touch, you can add a layer of whipped cream on top and decorate with fresh berries.
