Ingredients
  

For the Pretzel Treats
  • 20 Pretzels square or stick pretzels
  • 12 oz Chocolate chips milk, semi-sweet, or dark
  • 1 tsp Vegetable shortening optional, for smoother melting
Optional Toppings
  • 1/4 cup Sprinkles holiday-themed
  • 2 tbsp Chopped nuts peanuts, almonds, or pecans

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spatula

Method
 

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  3. Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate, coating about half of the pretzel. Use a spatula or spoon to help spread the chocolate evenly.
  4. Place the chocolate-coated pretzels on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Immediately sprinkle with your desired toppings before the chocolate sets.
  6. Refrigerate the baking sheet for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  7. Once set, carefully remove the pretzel treats from the parchment paper. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Notes

For a festive look, use colored chocolate or sprinkles that match your holiday theme. You can also drizzle contrasting colored melted chocolate over the treats for added decoration.
