Method
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate, coating about half of the pretzel. Use a spatula or spoon to help spread the chocolate evenly.
- Place the chocolate-coated pretzels on the prepared baking sheet.
- Immediately sprinkle with your desired toppings before the chocolate sets.
- Refrigerate the baking sheet for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
- Once set, carefully remove the pretzel treats from the parchment paper. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
Notes
For a festive look, use colored chocolate or sprinkles that match your holiday theme. You can also drizzle contrasting colored melted chocolate over the treats for added decoration.
