Ingredients

For the Burgers
  • 1 lb ground turkey 93% lean recommended
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For Serving
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 onion slices

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
  2. Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the turkey burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are cooked through. Avoid pressing down on the burgers while they cook, as this can squeeze out the juices.
  5. Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for the last minute of cooking, if desired.
  6. Assemble your burgers with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, and onion.

Notes

For extra moisture, you can add a tablespoon of mayonnaise or Greek yogurt to the burger mixture. Ensure your ground turkey is not too lean; 93% lean is ideal for juicy burgers.
