Korean Beef Rice Bowls

Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
For Serving
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • sesame seeds for garnish
  • green onions sliced, for garnish

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Divide the cooked rice among four bowls.
  4. Top the rice with the Korean beef mixture.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
