Slow Cooker Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

Ingredients
  

For the Chicken
  • 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce your favorite kind
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For Serving
  • 6 hamburger buns or rolls
  • Optional toppings coleslaw, pickles, extra BBQ sauce

Method
 

  1. Place chicken breasts or thighs in the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker. Stir to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  5. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board or in a bowl. Use two forks to shred the chicken.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker with the sauce. Stir to combine and let it heat through for about 15 minutes.
  7. Serve the pulled BBQ chicken on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

You can adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference. If the mixture seems too thick, add a little more chicken broth or water.
