Sunny-Side Up Fried Eggs

Ingredients
  

For the Eggs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Cast Iron Skillet
  • carbon steel skillet
  • nonstick skillet
  • glass lid

Method
 

  1. In a cast iron, carbon steel, or nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat until lightly foaming. Tilt the pan to evenly distribute the butter.
  2. Carefully break the egg into the skillet and season with salt. Cover with a glass lid.
  3. Cook until the whites are just set, about 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  4. Remove the lid and continue to cook for another 1 minute and 30 seconds, or until the whites are completely set and the yolks are still runny.
  5. Transfer to a plate, season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.

Notes

This recipe is a basic guide for sunny-side up eggs. You can adjust the cooking time slightly to achieve your preferred yolk consistency. Seasoning with pepper is optional.
